Parents & Youth
This next year WMUMC Youth Group is focusing on discipleship and missions. We will be moving our Bible studies to small groups, and will be basing our small groups on Acts 2:42: "They devoted themselves to apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." During the summer we will be focusing on 1 big mission trip, district church camp, and fellowship events for the youth! Please be in prayer for where God is calling you to volunteer with WMUMC Youth Group!
Small Group Leadership Training Friday & Saturday August 26th and 27th!
We will be having small group leadership training on Friday August 26th from 6:30-8pm in room #109 and also on Saturday August 27th from 10-12noon in room #109. Pete Aubin, our consultant, will be leading this training. You only need to attend one of these meetings, because the same training is offered each day. Drinks and snacks will be available each session.
We are in need of at least 12 year long volunteers, and we need women to teach the girls and men to teach the boys! We need 4 small group leaders, 4 small group co-leaders, at least 1 small group co-ordinator, host homes, at least 1 meal co-ordinator for meals after worship, and at least 2 Sunday school teachers!
Small Group Information!
We will have 5 small groups that will meet this next year; sr high girls, sr high boys, jr high girls, jr high boys, and high school sr's and jr's. Small groups will range in size from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 15. I will be leading the high school sr's and jr's, but volunteers are needed for the other 4 small groups. The sr high groups will meet for 1 hour each week, and the jr high groups will meet for 40 minutes each week.
If your small group is meeting in a home, and you want to provide a meal for your small group; then please add 30 more minutes to your time schedule. If your small group meets on the same night as worship (either Sunday night or Wednesday night), then a meal will already be provided! Small groups will range in size from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 15.
Small Group Leaders Bible Study!
Each week I will host a Bible study for the small group leaders and co-leaders. In this Bible study, I will introduce the lesson for that week. This will give the leaders time to go over the material, ask questions, and talk about how things are going with their small group.
Small Group Worship Information!
Each week all youth will gather in the youth center(either Sunday night or Wednesday night) for a time of fellowship, worship, and fun! Both youth and adult leaders will gather for fellowship, then have worship together with our youth band, hear an introduction to the lesson for the week, close out worship, have a fun game or two, and then dismiss. Small groups will meet either that same night or any night from Sunday through Thursday night. This way a small group leader can schedule their small group time around their work schedules. Small groups can meet in someone's home, or they can meet in one of the Sunday school rooms here at the church.
Monthly Fun Activity!
Once a month, our youth group, all of the small groups, will come together for a fun acitivity. This will be an opportunity for them all to get together for fun and fellowship! It will also give them an opportunity to invite their friends to come to church! Also, each small group is encouraged to do something fun every month within their own small groups. This might be doing something fun after their Bible study, or having their Bible study meet that night at a restaurant or maybe even the bowling alley!
Missions Information!
Every year we will have 1 big summer mission trip for all youth, and a spring break and/or Christmas break mission trip for our sr high youth! We will also have several smaller local mission projects! The destination of the summer mission trip will be determined by the youth council! Any youth may be a part of the youth council, but they are required to sign a covenant and be an active member of the youth program! Adults may be on the council as well! With leadership guidance, the youth will make the decisions!
